  • HOPE IS HERE

Welcome….you have just made your first step towards feeling better.  At times of need it is common to be unsure of where to go and who you can trust to get help. It can feel very overwhelming when you make a decision that could be life changing.  I want to assure you; at Rowan Tree Therapy Services you are in good hands.  As a practitioner and owner of Rowan Tree Therapy Services, it is a priority that I provide a safe, comfortable, confidential and welcoming environment for all those I meet.  I pride myself in my ability to build connections and create a sense of hope for each individual and their situation.  You will be respectfully invited to identify your goals for therapy, creating an experience that leaves you feeling understood and empowered.  Treatment decisions will be carefully considered and tailored to your needs to promote a sense of wellness and to gain control over your life and your future.

I am passionate about making a difference and building strong connections   while teaching healthy forms of expression.  I will help you to discover the patterns of behavior that have lead to the need for protection and promote an openness to vulnerability that will allow you to be your true self.  The Rowan Tree represents these three qualities and symbolizes growth, strength, stability and change.  I want to help you find peace and acceptance within yourself and learn to translate your skills into day to day life.

“Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard and valued-when they can give and receive without judgment.”

About Me

I grew up in Dauphin and have a great appreciation for the comfort of small towns but also understand the challenges of limited resources in rural communities.  I was part of the Ukrainian Bilingual Program in grade school and value the importance of culture and traditions.  I believe that being true to your heritage is important and may play a role in choices that you make.  I have always had the passion to help others and decided to make that my career.  I attended Brandon University and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing Degree in 2001.  As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse working in the Mental Health Profession since 2001, I have gained a multitude of experiences that have contributed to my dynamic, eclectic approach to therapeutic services.  My career started out working with the adult population on the acute psychiatric unit in our local hospital.  In that role I had the opportunity to develop my skills and expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals living with a mental illness.  I became very familiar with understanding and treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance-related disorders, personality disorders and dementia at an acute level.

The next chapter in my career shifted my focus to the child and adolescent population in a Community Mental Health role.  This is where my passion was taken to the next level.  After 12 years of experience, I have developed specialized skills that incorporated multiple systems.  My experience working in the community made it very clear, the importance of connection between two people and their families.  Whether it is ADHD, PDD, depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse or separation/divorce, the ability to express oneself and feel vulnerable with a person of trust is the most valuable component in the recovery process.  I have learned that all individuals have unique needs and goals that have to be explored in the therapeutic relationship.  This fueled my desire to continue to grow as a practitioner.  I strongly believe in ongoing training and professional development to enhance my skills and offer evidence-based services.   I have additional training in theraplay, play therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, anxiety, loss/grief, personality disorders and trauma.  I have also been trained to teach SAFE talk and Mental Health First Aid to professionals and community members.  I believe it is very important to encourage people to learn and talk about mental health to decrease shame and stigma.  I am very energetic and compassionate.  It is a privilege to be invited to walk along the journey of recovery with each of you at your own pace.  The time is now…please allow me the honor to hear your story.
